Left Right by Jones Ayuwo

I sit upon old Indian Gandhi’s stool as I ponder
As these here thoughts sit deep in my stomach like Jonah
The heat upon my medulla, so intense, so combustible
As my posterior rests heavily upon pins and needles.
I wonder at the terra-densified justifiability of our concepts
Our traditionally contrived, culturally accepted and socially implemented beliefs.
Do they fit seamlessly into the framework of the fabric
Which Logic spends all her time knitting?
Do not shake with your left hand
Do not collect things with your left hand
Wash your buttocks with your left hand
Hence, it seems we say that left is wrong and right is right right?
That the left should be left and right is the right rite right?
But if your destination lies on the left then the left is right, right?
And if you swerve around your left becomes right.
Should we not then accept that left could be right
And so one could take a right left?
Or do we obstinately and obdurately stick to our belief
That left is left and right is left right?!
In the little gathering of moss
That turns the walls of our cultures green
Should we not ensure that our minds be left open
So as not to inhibit our own growth?
